Y A RARE GEORGE III SILVER AND POLISHED FOSSILISED CORAL OVAL SNUFF BOXMAKER'S MARK ID CONJOINED (NOT TRACED) NO TOWN MARK, POSSIBLY LONDON 1972The cover and base inset with petrified panels, the sides with leafy dogtooth bands, flowering foliate swags and 'John to his mother', the silver interior gilt, 7cm (2 3/4in) long; together with the original handwritten note to his mother from John Hale stating that this 'marine production' stone was found on the summit of a mountain in Antigua. The silversmith there is given as a Mr Dunkerley. Condition Report The marks (makers, date letter and standard) very small, some wear to engraving, small dent at base to one end, usual scratches commensurate with age and use. Note folded, split and not the easiest to read
