A VICTORIAN LEATHER UPHOLSTERED SOFACIRCA 1860Of Chesterfield type, the walnut legs with brass cappings and casters stamped 'COPE & COLLINSON PATENT'68cm high, 204cm wide, 100cm deepCope & Collinson of Berwick St, London, exhibited as a brass foundry at the 1855 Paris Exhibition. Their superior casters are found on quality 19th century furniture including pieces by Gillows and Howard and Sons. Condition Report There are some marks, scratches, scuffs and abrasions consistent with age and use.Some knocks to the turned legs, one chip visible to the back right leg.The red leather upholstery is sun faded, with the original darker red showing to the creases and to the lower inside areas where cushions would have been placed. Some of the buttons have lifted. The upholstery is mis-shaped in some places. The creasing is variable, greater to the arms, back and central front area of the seat.Please note we have not inspected the frame beneath the upholstery and can't comment on the condition and originality of this area.All that said these comments on condition are only apparent on close up inspection.Please refer to the additional images for a visual reference of condition.
