Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Early 1st millennium BC. A bronze dagger with long tapered blade, rounded shoulders and broad flattened mid-rib. 176 grams, 33cm (13"). Property of an Essex gentleman; acquired on the UK art market; previously from an old English collection formed in the 1980s. Edged weapons with tangs were the simplest form produced by the Luristan workshops, and this basic type was hardly altered in the period when bronze was the most important material for the construction of weapons. The retention of this basic type with so few alterations makes establishing a precise date very difficult. In this category, the bronze daggers, dirks, and swords exist only as bronze blades, and have lost their perishable handles over the course of time. [No Reserve] Condition Report Fine condition.
