A CHARLES II OAK HIGH-BACK ARMCHAIR CIRCA 1670Of rare form122.5cm high, 58cm wide, 39cm deep overall Condition Report There are some marks, scratches, chips, splits, abrasions consistent with age and use, some to the extremities and edges.Some running repairs including two metal braces to the crack on the back of the crest; later dowels to the arm/back joints; two later fillets of wood to the base and side of the back panel. The seat has an open crack where the two seat panels meet. One arm and possibly the seat and seat rails are later. There is some later black staining with some bitumisation-like crackelure including to the panelled back. Lacking the crest of the carved front stretcher and possibly lacking a lower stretcher suggested by peg holes and some filler.There is evidence of old worm including to the seat rails.All that said many of these comments on condition are only apparent on close up inspection.Please refer to the additional images for a visual reference of condition.
