c.6th-7th century AD. A bronze triskele mount with applied pellets and decorative notches to the edges, raised central circular cell set with inset pierced red stone bead, suspension loop to reverse. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Symposia, From Attila to Charlemagne, Arts of the Early Medieval Period in The Metropolitan Museum, New York, 2000, p.209, for similar. 36.5 grams, 70mm (2 3/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired on the UK art market; previously in a UK private collection before 2000. The design is possibly that of stylised ravens.
