Early 11th century AD. An Anglo-Scandinavian or Norman bronze horse bridle cheekpiece link with a pronounced central fleur-de-lys and twin-end strap loops. Cf. for similar items Leahy, K. and Lewis, M., Finds Identified, London, 2018, pp.289 and 294-295. 36.6 grams, 86mm (3 1/4"). Found North East Hertfordshire, UK. Such items are common and appear to have been bridle links used by Anglo-Scandinavian and Anglo-Normans in the 11th century AD. Many similar items appear in East Anglia, and around the important Anglo-Saxon centre of Winchester. [No Reserve] Condition Report Fine condition.
