13th-15th century AD. A shield-shaped horse harness pendant bearing a cross moline gules in enamel, associated with the Vuedall family. See Woodcock, T., Dictionary of British Arms - Medieval Ordinary, Society of Antiquaries, 2009, vol.3, p.136; cf. Portable Antiquities Scheme, reference LIN-E88C41, for similar example, dated there 13th-14th century AD. 9.5 grams, 45mm (1 3/4"). Found whilst searching with a metal detector in near Atherstone, Warwickshire, UK, by Robert Ward. The cross moline gules is associated with the Vuedall family (sometimes appearing as Uvedall, Deuvedal or similar variant); John Uvedale of Wickham was Sheriff of Hampshire in 1420.
