Hugo Dachinger, Austrian 1908-1996- Reclining nude; coloured chalks, signed and dated '45, 33x48cm (ARR) Provenance: Private Collection, London Note: Hugo Dachinger was a 20th-century Austrian artist. The present work is typical of Dachingers style, with his use of the medium of pastel on paper which was in fact largely influenced by the resources to which he had access in war-torn Europe creating a sense of informality and intimacy which is reinforced by the subject of the nude. Dachingers work was exhibited in UK throughout his lifetime, at locations which included the Redfern and Leger Galleries, and has been shown as part of larger-scale survey exhibitions such as Kunst im Exil in Grossbritannien 1933-45 which was held in Berlin, Oberhausen, Vienna, and London. The enduring appeal of and interest in Dachingers work is illustrated by the retrospective held by the Austrian Cultural Forum in 2012. His work is also in the collections of the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and the Manx Museum on the Isle of Man.Please refer to department for condition report
