此件玉兽由和阗白玉料雕就，玉质细腻温润，局部带红色沁斑，皮壳老熟。立体圆雕瑞兽作匍匐状，似犬非犬。小圆眼，眼角较长，如意形鼻，方口紧闭，双耳耷拉贴服脑侧。身躯丰圆，四足蜷曲于腹部两侧，腿部肌肉饱满，趾爪有力，似蓄势待发，神态威武而又不失温顺和善。尾巴自后腿间穿过，贴于腹侧，底部平整光滑。整体造型敦厚，比例得宜，线条简洁流畅，包浆古雅凝厚，具有鲜明的元明时期玉雕风格。摩挲把玩，其趣盎然。 参阅：《故宫博物院藏品大系玉器编6》P245，明 青玉狗。
