A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GILT-METAL MOUNTED BOULLE MANTEL CLOCK, the waisted case decorated with scrolling foliate brasswork, the two-train movement signed 'Miroy-Requier & Co / Paris London', with key. 33cm high Note: Ernest Miroy the second son of Jean-Baptiste Marie Miroy, married Josephine Requier and moved to London with his cousin Adolph Victor Miroy in 1860, where he traded under the name Miroy-Requier. Both branches of the Miroy Frères were clockmakers and bronziers, and the side remaining in France ran their business from 10 Rue d'Angouleme, Paris. Britten (p. 543) records Miroy & Co at New Earl Street, 1856-71, Miroy-Requier at the same address in 1871, and Miroy-Requier at Queen Victoria Street in 1875.
