米拉日巴(1040-1123)，藏传佛教著名的噶举派祖师。他一生习受密法，注重实际修持，以苦修著称，善以西藏民歌的多段回环体和自由体格律咏唱本派教义、修法途经、修行感受等，在西藏佛教史上十分重要。此尊造像被塑造为瑜伽行者的形象，宽额丰颐，双目若有所思，微笑间自然流露出内心的宁静与欢喜，浓密的头发向后披散，暗示米拉日巴一生未出家，同时也表现出瑜行者的自然主义特质。上师左手捧布袋，右手上举置于耳际，以示正用西藏民歌向弟子传授教法，衣褶线条流畅服帖，双腿呈如意姿舒坐于莲座之上，神态生动传神，一副超然物外、与世无争之境。
