A POLYCHROME ENAMELED PORCELAIN BOWL WITH COURT LADIES, BOYS AND SCHOLAR
China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The flaring conical bowl on a short foot decorated with polychrome enamels with a depiction of an idyllic scene of court ladies and playful children in a garden, within double lines in underglaze blue. The interior with polychrome depiction of a scholar resting on a drum and amongst clouds within a double circle and a double line border below the rim. The underside with an apocryphal six-character Yongzheng reign mark within a double circle.
Condition: Two hairline cracks and one small touch up to the upper rim, minor firing imperfections.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
