A BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA, MON-DVARAVATI
Thailand, 8th - 9th century. Standing on a double lotus base, holding his hands in vitarka mudra. The face with smiling lips, downcast eyes, flanked by elongated earlobes, the hair in tight curls.
Condition: Good condition, commensurate with age, some nicks and dents, material loss to the aureole. Extensive encrustation and authentic patina.
Provenance: From a British private collection, acquired in the British auction market in 2020 (scan of invoice will be available to the high bidder).
