AN UNUSUAL BRONZE OIL LAMP
Southeast Asia, 17th - 19th century. Consisting of three parts, rising from a splayed foot and cast with several ornamental designs and a figure in the central piece depicting a deity on a winged bat-like creature, the top with a simplistic bowl.
Condition: Good condition with traces of use and wear, small nicks here and there and malachite-green patina as well as few small losses.
Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
