The 1950s saw Audemars Piguet dive head first into ultra-thin watchmaking and numerous watch companies invested significant resources in engineering the thinnest watches possible. With the 'Disco Volante', Genta highlighted this by shifting the focus from the dial to the razor thin bezel, which itself had a number of variations.
