A limestone head from a statuette, depicting an Eastern character or divinity, wearing a high felt cap (pilos), the long hair arranged in thick curls descending neatly in fifteen vertical rows along the neck, thin and well-defined face; mounted on a ctom-made display stand. Female and male figures wearing similar conical headgear appeared as personifications of Asia and Armenia on monuments in Rome, suggesting that the youth here could represent the geni, or spirit, of one of these eastern provinces.
