George Romney - Half Length Portrait of Lady Laetitia Beauchamp-Proctor née Johnson, oval oil on canvas, circa 1780, label verso, 75cm x 62cm, within a giltposition frame. Note: Lady Beauchamp-Proctor had seven sittings with George Romney between 20th July and 16th Augt, 1780, and paid Romney's 18-guinea fee on 15th May 1871. On 26th May Thomas Allwood listed in his framing book 'an oval 3/4' at a price of 2 12s 6d for Lady Beauchamp-Proctor. We are grateful to Alex Kidson for confirming the attribution to Romney. Provenance: Langley Park, Norfolk, thence by descent to Rev. Sydney Beauchamp, subsequently purchased by the vendor's family (a coin of Rev. Beauchamp), for 50 in 1915.
