Religio mancript signed by the rector of the Umayyad mosque Muhammad Jamal al-Din al Khatib al-Hibli, Ottoman 19th century Mancript on paper of nine lines of text per page written in Arabic in nastaliq characters in black ink in polylobed cartridges on a gold background. Text punctuated with golden circular medallions and enhanced with polychrome. Rectangular frontispiece illuminated in gold and in polychrome and adorned with polylobed arcades furnished with floral scrolls and florets and extended with alternating blue and red plant candelabra. Bismillah of the beginning and final blessing formula inscribed in lobed cartouches framed by floral scrolls on a gold background. Colophon signed in a floral medallion Muhammad Jamal al-Din al Khatib al-Hibli, Khadim al-Khutaba (rector) of the Umayyad Mosque (of Damasc presumably). Brown leather binding with two-gold painted decoration of aposition framed by radiating motifs in the spandrels of an embossed and gilded border.
