Decades earlier, Fu Sheng was able to save a single copy of the Confucian classic Shujing (Book of Documents) , from the 213 b.c.e. book burning purge ordered by the First August Emperor of the Qin dynasty. With the onset of the Han Dynasty, an attempt was made to recover important texts that were lost during the Qin. Here Fu Sheng transmits the Shujing to Shao Zuo, with Fu Nu translating her father's Shandong dialect, so the words wereprehensible to Shao Zuo.
