Early 20th C. Lobi Janus Form Bateba Figure. Burkina Faso, West Africa. Standing with both arms upraised in a threatening position, this extraordinary example shows a female with second face in a janus position. The facial style is quite like Bateba Yadawara (sad Bateba). Wood with encrusted, darkened patina.
