Description
Translation provided by Youdao
A pair of Chinese yellow-ground famille rose floor vases dating from the 19th century. Both bodies are molded with scholarly objects and flowers with insects. The necks are flanked by orange lingzhi-form handles. The upper neck of each vase has a band of ruyi and lotus tracery, while the foot has a band of feathers. The rims have turquoise bands with leaves and flowers. Dimensions are: 18 inches tall X 8 inches in diameter, 45.7 cm X 20.3 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Both vases have evidence of repair and overpainting to the mouths and areas of glaze loss to the handles and molded elements. One vase has a star crack to the bottom. The other vase has a handle that has been repaired and overpainted. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece after its initial manufacture as diligently as possible; however, as stated in our terms, condition reports are statements of opinion and not representations or warranties. Oakridge Auction Gallery bears no responsibility for any error or omission. Provenance: From a private Boston, Massachusetts collection. Notes: High resolution photos can be found here.
