A Chinese cloisonne teapot dating from the Qianlong period. The square teapot has an arched bottom that is turquoise, which matches the interior of the teapot. The sides, spout, and handle are all dark blue with colorful insects surrounding vegetables. The top has a white ground with flowers and butterflies. The lid features a metal guardian lion finial. Dimensions are: 4 1/4 inches tall X 7 1/2 inches long X 3 1/2 inches wide, 10.8 cm X 19.1 cm X 8.9 cm. Weight: 536 grams. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is a large area of damage to one side. The lid has a dent. There is loss to the cloisonne throughout. The handle has been reattached. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. Notes: This playful teapot has a squat neck set upon broad, sloping shoulders. The sides of the body curve inwards towards an arched foot, so that the whole teapot takes the shape of a fan. Outlining its shape is clear yellow wirework, highlighting all the straight and curved lines of the piece's body, spout, and handle. Its lid features a gilt auspicious animal sitting on a white enamel surface surrounded by four butterflies. The shoulders have a similar pattern of intertwined flowers. A striking indigo enamel covers the rest of the body, with bright and interesting colors outlining its vivid, natural themes. Each side of the body depicts a lively scene where insects including crickets and butterflies bustle about vegetables and flowers. Sky blue enamel coats the bottom and inside of the teapot. The shape, color and other technical aspects of this teapot illustrate clearly the characteristics of cloisonne during the Qianlong period.「銅胎掐絲琺瑯」，俗稱景泰藍，歷史上稱為琺瑯器。它表面那種金碧輝煌、富麗華貴的藝術效果深得帝王權貴的賞識，明清二代的帝王在宮內均設有專門機構，明代是「禦用監」，清代為「造辦處」，皆設「琺瑯作」專門生產供皇室使用的金屬琺瑯器，從明宣德、景泰一直到清代康、雍、乾、嘉慶時期。因皇室燒造金屬琺瑯器在明景泰時走向成熟，且以藍色為基調，所以世稱景泰藍。本件作品高頸、溜肩，整體呈扇形。壺蓋雕鎏金瑞獸鈕坐於白底琺瑯之上，四周以掐絲琺瑯描繪出四只蝴蝶圍繞其中。壺頸以藍底掐絲黑色方孔圓錢紋圖案圍繞周身。壺肩以白色琺瑯為底配以纏枝花卉紋多彩掐絲琺瑯。壺身周圍以寶藍色琺瑯為底，以紅、綠、白、黃等多色勾勒出一幅生動的草蟲秋趣圖，顏色艷麗，趣味盎然。周身滿工刻畫，熱鬧非凡。底部和壺內施以天藍色琺瑯。顯示出當時此壺所執之人的品味高雅，置於案頭也是一件賞心悅目的佳品。此壺從造型顏色等各個工藝表現上都顯示出其為乾隆時期掐絲琺瑯的特點。 A similar example of a yellow teapot is currently housed in the Palace Museum in Beijing under accession number 00116543.
