A large Chinese lobed lacquer box dating from the 18th century. The top is decorated with shells, bats, and hulus set against a vine tracery ground. Each hulu contains a landscape scene. The sides of the box are decorated with a wave pattern, and the interior is lacquered red with some areas of black coloration. Dimensions are: 6 inches tall X 18 inches in diameter, 15.2 cm X 45.7 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There are areas of cracking, damage, and loss to the surface throughout.
