A framed Chinese blue-ground dragon embroidery dating from the 19th century. The front-facing, five-clawed dragon chases a flaming pearl over a wave and rock motif. Bats and ruyi clouds surround the dragon. Dimensions are: the area of the embroidery measures 18 inches tall X 33 inches wide, 45.7 cm X 83.8 cm, while the frame measures 26 inches tall X 40 inches wide, 66 cm X 101.6 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is fading and staining, as well as widespread, severe areas of loss. Loose threads. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is.
