据《宣德彝器图谱》记载，戟耳炉仿照宋瓷款式而制，因其耳如兵器中的戟头而得名。戟为御赐刑部尚书及左右之物。此炉之以精铜为材，铜质密实精纯，细润光润，光中蕴赤，做工精良考究，实则微束，线条收放自如，循中含变，两侧对称戟耳之形，造型隽秀，线条圆弧内收，与炉壁内外相映，倍添古雅气韵。戟耳炉多为簋式，筒式炉少见。此炉形制简约大气，线条流畅美观，陈置案头自生清雅古趣。
