葡萄是西汉张骞出使西域后，传入我国的。唐代诗人李颀曾有诗曰：「年年战骨埋荒外，空见蒲桃入汉家。」，诗里的蒲桃指的就是葡萄。葡萄自传入我国后，就受到人们的喜爱，许多文人墨客都留下咏葡萄的诗作；溥氏更是将其入画，溥氏即以「天马葡萄入汉家」配以画面成此妙品，葡萄藤蔓以淡墨中峰写出，浓墨淡墨相互画出叶片都以没骨烘染，再以重墨勾勒叶脉，紫色绘出葡萄，尤为细心。特钤「溥儒长寿」、「心畬书画」及「飞鸿」细朱文印，这都是钤于得意作品之用印；只有溥氏如此大学问家，方能成就以诗入画且又具有历史内涵的佳作，今观此作再读其史略，知葡萄引进中原之不易，溥氏也以天马自喻渡海遗民之身分，值得细细品读。
