Two Sicilian maiolica albarelli, late 17th century, Caltagirone, each of waisted form, one painted with scrolling flowers and foliage against a blue ground with Sgraffito scrolls, the other with two panels of similar decoration, the lower parts with blue hatched borders, 23.1 cm and 22.8 cm high (2)These albarelli are in fairly good condition given their age. The faults are listed in detail below: There are some slight losses to the glaze on the rims and extremities of both albarelli which are minor and to be expected. The tallest albarello was potted slightly off-centre during manufacture. There is a restored rim chip to its rim and another to the shoulder nearby (the old restoration to the chip at the shoulder has mostly flaked off). These repairs are fairly old as they are yellowing with time (and would benefit from being removed, or carried out again. They are fairly minor). The other albarello has a shallow glaze chip to the shoulder (approximately 0.9 cm. x 2 cm.) and another (slightly smaller) to the foot. In addition, there is a small minor rim chip.
