Measurements: Height: 10.5" Width/Length: 10.5" Diameter/Depth: 1" Pair of Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, blue and white porcelain plaques. Potted in square and round plaques, thick, with flat base. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in cobalt blue under glazed, depicted of seating chief elder in relax position and group orchestra on the garden terrace palace, among dense tree, ruyi clouds. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The Underside and foot base rim reveals the cut edges during the making process left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks.
