This is a set of five stacking baskets from the Orient. The weaving is on such a small scale and is extremely intricate and perfectly crafted. The very tight weaving makes the baskets strong. The beauty of these wonderful woven baskets is that they are in fantastic condition for their age and are useable. Would originally have stored dry foodstuffs, probably garlic, spices etc but are extremely versatile and space saving if all baskets are not used at any one time. Would be perfect for haberdashery items or for shop display. Alternatively they just make a stunning decorative item of interest. It does appear that the inner baskets have had minimal use as the outer basket is slightly darker in colour from exposure but is also in perfect condition.
