Provenance: The watch belonged to a 32 year old German army officer called Erich, who was captured during WW2 and became a POW working on the land in Lincolnshire.  The owner of the farm where the POW worked had a 16year old daughter, Elizabeth.  Erich & Elizabeth fell in love and married when she was 18 and Erich 34.  They were together until Erich’s death in 1974. Elizabeth never remarried & died in 2017.  It just shows that love can happen anywhere although I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when Elizabeth told her Father she wanted to marry a German POW twice her age!
