Pair of Japanese figures; 18th century.Earthenware and canvas. The male figure's hands are missing. The polychromy is damaged.Measurements: 31 x 13.5 x 4.5 cm; 29 x 12 x 4.5 cm.Set made up of two Japanese figures representing a man and a woman. In both cases the figures are conceived to be dressed, so we can appreciate the clothes of both of them, which present a great amount of details, which allow us to elucidate that they are representations of relevant characters of the Japanese society. In both cases the fabrics have appliqués and delicate embroidery that enrich the figures of this couple. As for the physical features, the delicacy of the lady's face contrasts with the man's face, whose grotesque expression is somewhat reminiscent of some of the masks used in Japanese theatre.Dimensions: 31 x 13.5 x 4.5 cm; 29 x 12 x 4.5cm.
