A RARE FAMILLE ROSE 'LOTUS' WATER POT, TAIBO ZUNJiaqing seal mark and of the periodThe elegant vessel of beehive form with high walls and shoulders rising to the lipped rim, delicately decorated in pink, blue, yellow and green enamels with large lotus sprays borne on meandering foliate scrolls and issuing smaller blooms beneath a narrow ruyi-head band, the recessed base painted in the centre with the iron-red seal mark. 6.9cm (2 3/4in) diam.Footnotes:Beehive water pots of this type, Jiaqing seal mark and of the period, appear to be rare. The motif and pattern however, is typical of the Jiaqing reign and can be seen on a famille rose vase, Jiaqing seal mark and of the period, illustrated in Ethereal Elegance: Porcelain Vases of the Imperial Qing, the Huaihaitang Collection, Hong Kong, 2007, pp.376-377, no.136.Compare with a similar famille rose waterpot, Jiaqing seal mark and of the period, which was sold at Sotheby's London, 10 November 2010, lot 130.
