Ca. 4th Century BC A gorgeous, black glazed pottery guttus (oil-lamp filler) decorated with a moulded tondo depicting a mask of Dionysos - in Greek mythology, the god of fertility, wild nature, grapevine, and wine. Son of Zeus and the mortal Semele. The vessel exhibits a wheel-form body with dozens of vertical incisions around the periphery and sits on a low, ring foot.
