Ca. 4th Century BC A gorgeous, black glazed pottery guttus (oil-lamp filler) decorated with a moulded tondo depicting a mask of Dionysos - in Greek mythology, the god of fertility, wild nature, grapevine, and wine. Son of Zeus and the mortal Semele. The vessel exhibits a wheel-form body with dozens of vertical incisions around the periphery and sits on a low, ring foot. Size: L:95mm / W:115mm ; 175g Provenance: Property of a London gallery; formely in High Wycombe Estate collection; formerly with Hellios Gallery acquired from a private London collection.
