Ex private collection, 1980s. Acquired on the UK art market in the 1990s. Socketted trilobate arrow-head types weremon in the Middle East from the 7th century B.C. and subsequently in Greece and Egypt. The Greek leaf-shaped, socketted and barbed types appear to originate in Anatolia and the Ionian cities in about 675 B.C., to be later widely spread throughout the Mediterranean and used until the 400 B.C.
