He alternates his professional career with teaching painting in Eivissa and Sant Josep. He considers himself self-taught, learning from classics and moderns to extract from it a personal work. Landscapes, peasant girls, Ibizan corners and whitewashed walls are some of his themes. Since he was a finalist for the Art Jove Govern Balear Painting Prize in 1999, he has regularly received awards. García López, skilfully handling palette knife and paintbrush, extracts subtle contrasts of light in landscapes and portraits that lead him to transcend the island's typicality to investigate the underlying sensorial world.
