A rare pair of Japanese Satsuma trumpet-shaped 'Dragon' vases, Meiji period, H 45,5 cmA pair of Japanese Satsuma 'Dragon' vases, the vase of 'Trumpet'-shape, swirled by a relief decorated dragon covered in gilt, all over with medallion enclosing a phoenix or a dragon, interchanging with butterflies and flower balls, reserved on a black glazed ground, the top rim with a band of ruyi-head-shaped floral design, heightened in gilt, Meiji period, H 45,5 cmBoth vases appear overall in good to pristine condition, except for some minimal not-bothersome wear to the gilt and glazes consistent with age and type.
