A CLOISONNE ENAMEL ‘TAOTIE MASKS’ BELL INSCRIBED WITH THE APOCRYPHAL MARK JǏNGTÀI NIÁN ZHÌ 景泰年製 CHINA, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY Of flared form with a lobed bottom edge, an upper register of elaborate taotié masks on a key fret ground above stylized chilong, and a lower register of taotié masks and archaistic elements, separated by a raised bow-string band at the midsection. Suspended from two conjoined dragons at the top, with an apocryphal four-character mark ‘jǐngtài nián zhì’ (景泰年製). Offered at auction together with its original wooden stand.
