§ AN IMPORTANT ZITAN AND POSSIBLY BOXWOOD HANGING JADE VASE STAND CHINA, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY Resting on four feet. The lower gradient part, of waisted shape, is intricately reticulated with lotus scrolls and ruyi combined with baluster vases in the rounds. It is further enhanced with a possibly boxwood gallery. The middle part is a flat one, where would have stood the jade vase, and is encircled by a zitan gallery. It is also surmounted by two long poles coming together on their top. The upper part is centered by a Shou (longevity) character flanked by two confronted leaping dragons which bodies are coiled over the poles. H: 38,5 cm - w: 16,5 cm - depth: 11,5 cm Weight: 495 grams Note: The preciousness of the wood (i.e. zitan) combined with the high quality and refinement of the decoration demonstrate that this stand would have been made for an important lidded hanging vase, likely a jade one, which chain would have been attached to the top part. An example of such hanging jade vessel together with its wooden stand - the latter being of much more less quality than ours - can be seen, inter alia, at Christie’s Paris, 2012-06-12, lot 156, sold for €67,000. Bidders should be advised that importation regulations of several countries, including the US, prohibits the importation of ivory and that of coral, or any goods containing same. Therefore Adams advises prospective purchasers who intend to ship lots containing either ivory or other specimen that fall under CITES regulation, to another country to familiarise themselves with the relevant importation regulations prior to bidding. Adams will not be responsible for shipping items herein and the onus will be on the buyer to organise shipping at their own behest. 重要的紫檀及可能黄杨木挂玉花瓶架 中国,清代,19世纪 NOTE: CONDITION REPORTS AND MEASUREMENTS It is up to the bidder to satisfy themselves prior to buying as to the condition of a lot. In relation to Condition Reports, whilst we make certain observations on the lot, which are intended to be as helpful as possible, references in the condition report to damage or restoration are for guidance. The absence of such a reference does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of any others. The condition report is an expression of opinion only and must not be treated as a statement of fact. Measurements and weight are approximate and the potential bidder may re-ask it to be checked when asking for a condition report.
