A Worcester 'Mobbing Birds' plate, circa 1756-58A Worcester 'Mobbing Birds' plate, circa 1756-58Of lobed Meissen shape, painted in colours with a version of the 'Mobbing Birds' pattern with three birds in a diagonal tree with a landscape behind, other birds in flight and a border of individual flower sprigs, 21.5cm diamThe 'Mobbing Birds' pattern is usually found on vases, while in addition a table set was made using the new shape of plate derived from Meissen. An example from the Zorensky Collection is illustrated by John Sandon, Dictionary of Worcester Porcelain (1993), p.264. A similar plate was sold by Christies on 14 May 2003, lot 208. Others were in the Frank Whieldon and Sir Jeremy Lever Collections, sold by Bonhams on 23 January 2008, lots 70 and 27 respectively.
