Flemish school; 17th century."The Arrest.Oil on slate. It has an ebony frame from the 17th century.Measurements: 10 x 8 cm; 16 x 14 cm (frame).Work of devotional character that follows an original model of David Teniers which represents the arrest of Christ, which was a fundamental event in the Christianity registered in the canonical literature. Jesus was arrested by the Temple guards of the Sanhedrin in the Garden of Gethsemane shortly after the Last Supper and immediately after Judas' kiss. The arrest led immediately to his trial before the Sanhedrin, during which he was condemned to death and handed over to Pilate the next morning. This scene shows the moment when Jesus has already been arrested, and is on the ground kneeling accused by the Priest. It is worth noting that in this composition two different scenes can be seen, that of the arrest which takes place in the lower part and that in the upper part, in a sketchy manner, it can be intuited that this is another of the episodes belonging to the Passion of Christ.
