Pair of 19th century baroque mirrors. Carved and gilded wood. Measurements: 45 x 34,5 cm (inside); 110 x 93 cm (outside). Pair of Baroque mirrors in carved and gilded wood. Following the typical scheme of the baroque period, the moons are fitted in a clearly delimited, geometric and moulded structure (in this case, carved with vegetal sheaths), around which a prolific decoration is developed based on scrolls and tornapuntas, but which do not manage to surpass or hide the underlying geometry (unlike what will happen in the rococo period). Here, large acanthus leaves undulate, combined with rockery crests and veneras, prefiguring what was to become the rococo style. However, everything is subordinated to a basic order and symmetry. Imperial eagles act as crests.
