神采奕奕之像，刻画自然祥和神情，容颜和动作有一种憨态可掬的表现。身着长衫，一手微微上举，一手紧握金钱链；三脚金蟾伏于手臂，与刘海互相对望，刘海衣袂翻飞，衣纹线条自然流畅，层次丰富，有吴带当风之风貌，充分体现着一种超然的神仙气度。刘海蟾形象历代不泛，然而铜鎏金的极稀有，此物为同类题材至精者。 刘海蟾，也叫刘海，是道教全真派五祖之一。据《列仙全传》载，刘海蟾遁迹于终南山下。无论是民间还是庙堂，他都受到尊崇。元世祖尊其为：海蟾明悟弘道真君；元武宗加封为：海蟾明悟弘道纯佑帝君。在刘海戏蟾的形象中，还有金钱元素，刘海蟾也成为了具有财神意味的仙人。
