此铜马周身布满红斑绿锈，宝光内敛，显示出熟润的包浆皮壳。铜马呈站立状，四肢自然伫立于一块方形板上，马首低垂，张嘴，双眼突出，鬃毛清晰可见，自然披散在项背上，尾部自然下垂。整体造型体矮颈粗，饱满粗壮，具有早期特征。 作为耳熟能详的形象，传统艺术对马的塑造，一直连绵不绝。悠久的马文化历史，产生许多关于马的艺术作品。譬如东汉的马超龙雀，唐代的昭陵六骏，皆是举世闻名的名马。此铜马形制虽小，但造型塑造极为准确生动，细节表现也是细致入微，马踏板的造型更是存世鲜见，值得关注研究。
