SALEROOM NOTICE: TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BUYERS NOT KNOWN TO PLAKAS, PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A PREMIUM LOT, DEPOSITS AND FINANCIAL REFERENCES WILL BE REQUIRED TO BID ON THIS LOT Provenance: Adda Collection Since 1920's Egypt, thence by descent to the current owner, has never been offered for sale for approximately 100 years. Footnotes: Ennion was one of the most prominent glassworkers of Ancient Rome, active from about 1 to 50 CE. He is famous for being the first known maker of decorated mold-blown glass, and for the exquisite quality of his work. Usually pieces done by Ennion are signed by himself however there have been a few instances where they have not been signed. His works were traded directly to the wealthy Romans due to the high demand at the time. There are very few known pieces that have been preserved, so far, there are only approximately 50 pieces that have been preserved which are now mainly in museums and private organisations.
