SEBASTIÀ RAMIS (Palma de Mallorca, 1947)."Landscape".Mixed media on cardboard.Signed in the lower right-hand corner.Size: 122 x 63 cm; 124,5 x 66 cm (frame).A self-taught painter, Sebastià Ramis was a late starter in his pictorial work, in which compositions inspired by landscapes and beaches predominate, framed in a distinctly Mediterranean feeling of light and colour. He made his individual debut in 1982 at the Sala Pelaires in Palma de Mallorca, where he has exhibited on several occasions. He also exhibited in the Barcelona galleries Vayreda, Parés, Àmbit and Artur Ramon, in Madrid at the Juan Gris gallery, in Pollença at the Bennassar gallery, in Toulouse and in Paris, and he took part in important group exhibitions. In addition to landscapes, he cultivated interior scenes, still lifes and figures, in images often full of humour and literary references, marked by an atmosphere of memory and nostalgia. A painter with a distinct personality and a magnificent technique, his work is halfway between lyricism and the process of synthesising the forms of nature.
