Both frames have scratches and faults.Measurements: 29 x 25 cm; 35 x 31.5 cm (each).Christian tradition has considered Joachim and Anna as the progenitors of Mary. These names are taken from the Protoevangelium of James, one of the most famous and oldest apocryphal gospels. In the present pair of panels both figures are depicted half-length, set against a neutral background in a kind of grotto, with no other elements to distort the viewer's view.
