Ross pieces display the use of trellis and dot marquetry in the style of the late 18th century Parisian cabinet makers. Donald Ross exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 and his work was retailed by top Victorian furniture stores including Edwards and Roberts.A pair of dot and trellis marquetry side tables is held in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.For a closely related table see Christie's, London, Interiors, 20th July 2016, lot 116 (£2,250).
