Circa 6th century B.C. A silver phiale or libation bowlposed of a squat body, broad everted neck and convex, fluted base embellished with engraved scalloping, central shallow omphalos. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession number , for a very similar bowl. 240 grams, 19.3 cm wide (7 5/8 in.). Acquired from a gallery in France. Kept in the UK since 1982, thence by descent.
