HENNAGE ACQUISITION FUND A FAMILLE-VERTE AND GILT TWO-HANDLED OVAL TRIPOD TUREEN TOGETHER WITH A SMALL GREEN-GLAZED SAUCER DISHKangxi period The very slightly rounded vertical sides painted with butterflies and grasshoppers amidst peony sprays, bordered by stylized miniature peony lappets at the flaring base and with a thin band of fish, crustacea and weed panels on a dense green foliate ground at the molded rim, the center of the interior with a phoenix flying above a tree peony with a smaller bird and butterfly, the interior sides with pomegranate, peach and finger citrus peony sprays with further birds and insects, the base unglazed except for three pointed petal-form feet which support the vessel; together with a green glazed saucer dish with wide everted rim, all under an apple-green glaze, the base and foot interior glazed white and with a double encircled loosely-written single-character seal. 12 1/4in length over handles; 7 7/8in diam of dish (2). 清康熙時期 五彩鳳凰百花紋帶柄椭圓形盆及蘋果綠釉碟 For another two-handled oval tureen painted to the interior with cranes rather than the phoenix of our example, see Christie's London, 27 May 2022, lot 1107, from the Collection of the late Lord and Lady Swaythling.
