A BRONZE 'DRAGON' HANDWARMER WITH OPENWORK COVER, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912. Of rectangular form with rounded sides and corners, finely decorated to each long side with a dragon surrounded by a dense pattern of clouds, the hinged handle with swirls. The pierced cover showing a third dragon amid clouds. The base with an apocryphal six-character mark da Ming Xuande nianzhi.

Provenance: Austrian trade.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear and casting flaws, tiny nicks here and there, fine patina overall.
